Abstract: | The effects of climate change on the primary sector are not only negative. For example, as the researchers point out, in all cases and for many crops the growing season will be lengthened. In some areas, the potential for growth of some crops such as cotton will be extended or changed. Areas that were previously unsuitable for growing certain wine varieties will now become suitable. In addition, in all scenarios the risk of crops being destroyed by frost is reduced. The term "Agriculture", in the broad sense, is used to describe the production of food and other products from cultivated plants and farmed animals, in ecosystems created by man himself, with the aim of meeting his food needs. Although the majority of climate change's consequences on agriculture are undoubtedly negative, some components of the change have positive effects as well, such an extended germination time. Because of this, the agricultural industry's strategy plans, which aim to develop an intelligent and sustainable agriculture, include climate change as a core tenet. |
