Abstract: Tomatoes are one of the most famous crop nowadays, with one of the highest demands in the market place. The history of tomatoes starts from South America and the first time it was ever consumed outside from there, was in the 16th century when poor people from Europe started consuming them. Nowadays the tomato’s market is close to 200 billion dollars the past few years, with many countries such as China, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain and the States exporting and importing thousands of tones each year. It is a crop that prefers mild environmental conditions and temperatures that vary from 15-24°C and it could be grown either outside on fields and inside greenhouses with having big differences in the final result. The preparation for planting tomatoes is simple and the management methods are simple as well. In this assignment information about preparation of tomato crops is going to be mentioned, along with the nutritional values that they have. Also some practices are going to be mentioned, for increasing yield quality and yield production, methods for maintaining healthy plants, controls on pests and diseases and in the end a comparison between organic and conventional methods is going to be done, to see which way is more ideal in order to cultivate good quality tomato crops.
